35th Anniversary Gala
Recap
Thank you all who attended, sponsored or otherwise supported the People's Music School's 35th Anniversary Gala. The money we raised from ticket sales, donations, raffle, and silent auction will help us provide free after-school music education to even more inner-city children. Below are photos from the event and event details.
The gala raised 53% more than our 30th anniversary held in 2006. Gorgeous floral bouquets, exciting entertainment, passionate speakers, an elegant dinner... all of these elements were woven together in Preston Bradley Hall at the Chicago Cultural Center to create an air of enthusiasm as nearly 300 guests filled the ballroom. A special performance by Chicago violinist Rachel Barton Pine kicked off the night along with People’s Music School students and a terrific silent auction. Generous donations from local businesses, restaurants and sports organizations including the Chicago Cubs and White Sox set the raffle up to raise thousands of dollars for the organization. The night was a glorious celebration of People’s Music School's 35-year history of providing free quality music instruction to Chicago inner-city children.
Rita Simo shared her memories of the early beginnings and founding of the School in 1976 in the neighborhood of Uptown. Many students touched us all with their heartfelt stories of how the School has enriched their lives. The event was a wonderful opportunity to mark the organization’s milestone and highlight the thousands of students that the School has served over the past three decades.
The People’s Music School staff and Board would like to thank the following people for their hard work and dedication to ensuring the Gala was a success: Louis Apollon, Kate Evert, Sean Parnell, Charlie Donohue, Lisa Dell, Maria Manolas, and Mark Rhein. Many other volunteers and supporters, too numerous to list, also contributed countless hours on the day of the event and we sincerely thank them for their time and support of the School.
