Student Highlight: May 2011
Melanie Young has studied cello at People’s Music School for seven years and is a student of Michelle Morales. She loves playing her instrument and her favorite composer is J.S. Bach. The string ensemble she is currently playing with is studying "3 Choral Prelude”—a piece she loves. Melanie studies at the School two days a week and says that she practices as often as she can. Melanie says she loves People's Music School because she is able to learn an instrument at no cost, she loves the people here, and she loves that, "we learn music theory and this helps you and will benefit you in years to come. People's Music School prepares you if you want to study music in college." When asked about how People's Music School has affected her, she said with a smile: "People's Music School has allowed me to make new friends and has given me an edge. I have something more to show because of the School, and this musical background will help my future."
